Three days before the San Diego News Network’s site went live, the last printed edition of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer marked the end of 146 years of delivering news via smashed-up trees. Naturally, my questions abound for the new venture; how does it plan to succeed besides saving money on pulp, and what role will it assign to still photography?
A couple of friends and I are starting a story collective. That’s right, a story collective – photos AND words. We believe this will set us apart from the myriad photo collectives that are popping up everywhere.
It was a perfect day for a stroll, and so my girlfriend and I took Rickets, an Australian cattledog, to the dog park. Rickets being the photogenic mutt he is, I had every justification for leaving my camera hanging around my neck as I always do.
A few long years ago I was a student of evolutionary biology, humbly studying little deer mouse skeletons. Who would have known that from a simple project preparing and measuring mouse vertebrae I would be left with not just a lasting fondness for evolutionary genetics, but also an appreciation for the graphic visuals of basic research.
In the process of archiving my photos, I decided to put a rather large gallery of leisurely photo taking at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park. These are photos I’ve accumulated over the last few years. This slideshow is quite slow, so why not just head on over to my website to see them all?
