Ah, La Jolla, “the Jewel” as they call it, one of my favorite places in San Diego to people-watch when I really don’t want to expend too much energy. I can always fall into place behind some slow-moving grandma or married couple and let the pace of the crowds on the sidewalk slow down my usual frantic wandering.
I found myself looking for pairs during a recent stroll. They say that good photos collect things into groups of three, that a pair of two of something will just create an awkward composition. I like the mental exercise of looking for instances in which the rules don’t apply.
The local harbor seals are always well-outnumbered by the people willing to come and point at them. Yet their continued presence on the beach is still a controversy for some. Too much seal poop in the water, they say. I say a community in which seal poop levels are a dominating public policy issue is a community with too few worries.
