Ozzy fans made for an interesting mix in conservative La Jolla on Friday when hundreds showed up for his book signing, which I covered for the La Jolla Light.
At the end of January I shot my first golf tournament ever. I think the fact that I was completely new to the sport – I had never even played golf before – just served to keep me at a heightened sense of awareness.
The last few weeks have seen me doing quite a few environmental portraits, and I can’t help but get excited when a shoot comes together.
An impressive recap of photo collective Luceo Images’ year in photos.
Over the weekend I shot some pretty impressive holiday light displays in La Jolla, like the one above where some neighborhood kids were nice enough to hold still for a long exposure to get the lights shining brightly.
I’ve noticed a few people complaining about the cold here in San Diego – it was a frigid 57 degrees yesterday after all. But, I’m sure people elsewhere in the country are more than a bit jealous of our weather.
I was in Ocean Beach over the weekend, photographing the last leg of Sinh Nguyen’s 2,500-mile walk across the country. A veteran himself, Sinh’s simple message is to honor America and “those who serve.” A great story and a nice guy to meet.
I had the pleasure of shooting among some of my favorite fishes at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla a couple weeks ago. The Ocean Discovery Institute (formerly Aquatic Adventures) hosted a gala and featured some talented kids informing guests on various environmental issues.
You can all watch my video on Animal Planet’s Weird True and Freaky tonight at 9:30. The clip has been on Youtube for a couple years and amassed 20,000 views, which is how a few production companies have found it and contacted me. The version above is silent, but if you watch it on Youtube, you will be treated to some pretty awful royalty-free background music.
It’s been just over a month since I washed the last bits of Mongolian soil out of my pores with a long, hot shower in a hotel near the airport in Beijing (our connection was delayed). The absolutely official end to my journey came with a bite into my double cheeseburger from In N’ Out on the 60th night since leaving home.
