Four friends buy a tiny European car and drive from Germany to England before turning around and driving to the capital of Mongolia as part of the Mongol Rally, a charity race where inconvenience is encouraged and there’s no prize for finishing first. Known as Team Great Job, the teammates cover approximately 10,500 miles in 11 countries, plus an afternoon in China.

Many of these images were originally published on Meridian Collective with a series of travel posts I wrote regularly over the course of two months while in Europe and Central Asia, whenever I could find an internet cafe. You can read all twelve entries of the “Mongol Saga” at http://meridiancollective.org/tag/mongol-saga/.
