Nazario Romero, 35, makes his way up the steepest portion of Torrey Pines State Reserve during the La Jolla Half Marathon. Romero eventually won the race, ending a three-year absence caused by an injury near his right achilles. Romero, who broke the course record in 2003 with a time of 1:06:23, beat second place Matt Stohl by almost three minutes with a time of 1:10:24.
