Essex Mine-20120527-2370.jpg
Acid Mine Drainage colored milky white by dissolved aluminum flows from deep within Essex Mine in Ward Township in Hocking County, Ohio, ending up in Sycamore Hollow, a tributary of Snow Fork, a sub-basin of Monday Creek. Stirring the sediment reveals the more common orange iron oxide characteristic of acid mine drainage.
