A handprint formed in lime adorns the interior of the Essex Doser, which was installed to treat acid mine drainage flowing from deep within Essex Mine in Ward Township in Hocking County, Ohio, and ending up in Sycamore Hollow, a tributary of Snow Fork, a sub-basin of Monday Creek. The doser was originally planned for a site in nearby Murray City, Ohio, but the village would not sign a right-of-entry form because it preferred its acid mine drainage as a treatment for its sewage in lieu of a proper sewage treatment facility.
