The doser in Carbondale, Ohio, sits on a 7-acre site and treats acid mine drainage in the Hewett Fork subwatershed of Raccoon Creek and improves the pH and net acidity for 11 miles downstream. It originally used lime kiln dust but switched to calcium oxide, which is more expensive but is better at neutralizing the AMD.
